Maison dite du Sénéchal

Beautiful stone house from the 14th century, for which little information is available. Its upper gallery is decorated with 4 geminated arches in the flamboyant gothic style with Florentine-inspired ornaments. Was it the home of a rich merchant who traded with Italy? Certainly not that of a seneschal, who, as the king's representative in the provinces, had no official residence. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1913, it was acquired by the town and restored to its original state in 1972. Now annexed to the Museum of Fine Arts, it now houses a Gallo-Roman tile tomb, a Gothic filling, sarcophagi and the bell tower of the former Agen City Hall.
